Functional Nutrition
Bethany Wilkinson, RN, Functional Nutritionist
Bethany Wilkinson is a functional nutritionist, registered nurse, and coach at ROOT Wellness Hub who helps adults uncover the root causes of persistent, confusing health symptoms. She is known for the depth of her work—examining a person’s full health history, lifestyle, stress patterns, and daily habits to identify what is truly driving imbalance and how to intervene thoughtfully and effectively.
What is Functional Nutrition?
Functional nutrition explores how your whole body is functioning and what it needs to feel balanced and well. Instead of looking only at what’s “normal,” it focuses on what’s optimal for you. With food-first guidance and lifestyle support, it helps you move toward feeling better—naturally and sustainably.
What Makes Bethany’s Approach Different
Bethany brings a rare combination of clinical knowledge, systems-level thinking, and real-world practicality to functional nutrition. She routinely spends hours outside of sessions reviewing histories, research, patterns, and lifestyle factors to ensure recommendations are precise, realistic, and aligned with the whole person—not just their symptoms.
Her work goes far beyond surface-level nutrition advice. Bethany helps clients understand why their body is responding the way it is, what may be keeping them stuck, and how to move forward in a way that actually fits their life.
How Bethany Supports Clients
Bethany integrates functional nutrition with a strong coaching foundation, offering ongoing guidance and support both in and outside of sessions. She helps clients:
Identify root causes behind fatigue, digestive issues, hormonal concerns, inflammation, mood changes, and brain fog
Understand how stress, sleep, nutrition, movement, and environment interact over time
Break down complex recommendations into achievable, sustainable steps
Navigate resistance, overwhelm, or uncertainty that can stall progress
Build momentum toward long-term health goals without all-or-nothing thinking
When appropriate, Bethany may incorporate advanced tools such as DUTCH hormone testing to gain a deeper understanding of how the body produces and processes hormones throughout the day. These insights help guide targeted, food-first and lifestyle-based strategies designed to support balance and resilience.
Meeting You Where You Are
Bethany is especially skilled at meeting people where they are—emotionally, physically, and practically. She does not push clients faster than their system or lifestyle can support. Instead, she collaborates with each person to find creative, flexible ways to make meaningful change feel possible, even within busy or demanding lives.
This approach allows clients to feel supported rather than pressured, informed rather than overwhelmed, and empowered to make progress that lasts.

No. Bethany does not diagnose or treat medical conditions and does not prescribe or adjust medications. However, with your written permission, she can collaborate directly with your medical provider to ensure that her nutritional recommendations align safely with your current treatment plan. This teamwork helps create a clearer picture of your health and prevents you from having to relay information back and forth.
-
Bethany can order the DUTCH hormone test as a certified provider. For blood work, she partners with your doctor (with your permission), who can often order labs through insurance. If you don’t currently have a doctor, she can connect you with the nurse practitioner in our suite so you can get the labs and support you need.
